Happy Wednesday!  Whew, it's been a crazy week for me.  My daughter is here in Florida visiting from Michigan.  We've been hitting all the tourist attractions including Universal Studios and DisneyWorld.  My feet are killing me, I'm exhausted and we still have lots to do.  I'll also be going on a scrapbook store bus tour this weekend.  Can't wait for that.  Two days on a bus visiting scrapbook stores from Tampa to Orlando.  I'm so glad that Mary gives the Design Team our assignments in advance so I've had this card done for quite some time.  The theme for this week is a child's birthday card.  Since I have a grandson that will be turning two soon I got a jump on his card.  In case you haven't heard, Mary's made some changes to the Cricut Cardz Challenge and is calling it Crafty Cardz now.  That means you can now use other electronic cutters, Big Shots, Cuttlebugs and digi stamps to create for the challenges.  I still went with my Cricut for this card and used the Birthday Bash cartridge for my bear in the wagon.  I also used my Cuttlebug and a QuicKutz photo corner die and my banners were cut with a My Creative Time die from the Chocolate Greetings set.  My sentiments on the banners are from the Cardz TV Stamps Make a Wish stamp set.  I cut the number 2 from the Cricut Plantin' Schoolbook cartridge and glittered it up before adding it to the balloon for a little sparkle and shine.  I added a couple googly eyes to my bear, but they make the bear look a little scary so if I ever used this cut again I'd leave them off.

Valentine's Day has passed, so what's next???  St. Patrick's Day, of course.  At Cardz TV Stamps this week we're creating for the Luck of the Irish, a card layout or project using stamped, digital or electronic cut shamrocks.  I used my Cricut for my shamrock.  It came from the Create A Critter 2 cartridge (page   ).  My paper is from a stack that I've had around since I won it last year at a special scrapbook store tour.  It was a fun filled weekend on a bus traveling from one scrapbook store to another in central Florida.  I'm excited that it's almost time to take the trip again, the first weekend in March.  Can't wait.  Anyway, the paper stack is called Peaches from Prima Marketing and it's actually an oreintal themed stack.  The background leaf print is a pre-cut frame that I backed with a green stripe from the stack.  Then I used my Teddy Bear Parade cartridge to cut my cute little leprauchan bear.  My sentiment is from Cardz TV Stamps It's All About You stamps set.  I cut a little shamrock to place next to the sentiment.

My Creative Time Embossing challenge

I have a project that I've been wanting to try for awhile and the embossing challenge at My Creative Time gave me the perfect opportunity.  Sadly my photo does not show it off very well, but I embossed on clear cardstock (acetate).  I used the preloaded tag image on my Silhouette Cameo to cut the tag from the clear acetate.  Then I placed the acetate in a Sizzix Small Hearts embossing folder and ran it through my embossing machine.  Next I moved on to embellishing the embossed tag.  My patterned papers--red polka dot, printed book paper and love sentiment all came from the MME Lost & Found Union Square 6x6 paper stack.  I used Miss Emma's Stitched Heart Stacking Dies for all the little hearts and the Chocolate Greetings Stamp Set for the tag and Be Mine sentiment.  For the smallest heart I added a touch of Glossy Accents.  At the bottom of the tag I added a smoky gray gem and some teeny tiny key charms.  On the top of the tag I added my fabulous new chevron ribbon I found on a recent day trip hubby and I took to St. Petersburg at a really fun scrapbooking store called Whim-So-Doodle.  I unfortunately have no idea who makes the ribbon.  The ribbon is actually a bright white with red chevron.  Way too bright to go with my tag so I toned it down with some distressed tea ink from Tim Holtz.  Here's a close up view that shows the embossing a little better.  This tag looks way better in person.  The cloudy day (a rare occasion here in Florida) prevented me from getting a decent picture.  So sorry!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #125 Critter Cuties

It's time for a new challenge at Cricut Cardz Challenge, challenge #125 is Critter Cuties.  Make a Valentine card with a critter using any cartridge.  Ever since I got the Create A Critter 2 cartridge I've wanted to make a card with this sweet monkey image.  This is the card I'm going to send to my grandson.  I started with a kraft cardstock base card and added a red mat then a topper embossed with my hearts folder.  I cut the monkey at 4.25".  Another CAS design.  Please join us for the weekly challenge over at Cardz TV Stamps.

This week's challenge for Cardz TV Stamps is such a fun one. Mary asked the team to design a set of 3x3 Valentine's Day cards for kids. What could be better for a challenge like this than using Cricut's Create a Critter 2 cartridge. All my cute little critters came from that cartridge. I started with white cardstock for my card bases. If you use a 12x12 sheet of cardstock you'll get eight cards from one sheet of paper. I usually cut the 12x12 sheet in half first then take each 6x12 piece and using my paper trimmer cut every 3". Then I score each 3x6" piece in half leaving me with 3x3" cards. Next I used my Elegant Edges cartridge to cut scalloped squares at 2.75" in red. I took each square and added some doodling around the scallops with my white gel pen. Each of my images on the cards are cut at 2.5". To finish the cards off I simply stamped Happy Valentine's Day on the inside of each one using the Cardz TV Stamps Happy Days Stamp Set. If you're looking for a good all around stamp set for adding sentiments for holidays this is a good one to get.
