I'm so excited that I have been selected to be part of the Design Team at Paper Cutz Challenge. Thanks Mary, you know I love working with you from being a part of your DT for Cricut Cardz Challenge. I won't have my debut until next week but I wanted to whip up a quick card for this week's challenge using metal. I also wanted to put this over in the My Pink Stamper challenge for a winter card. Two items in my supply stash I've been wanting to use and I put them both on this card. The first has been in my stash for a very long time and I never got around to using it. The copper metal sheeting is from Making Memories. I got brave and decided to put it through my Cuttlebug to see if it would cut. I used my scalloped square Nestibilities to cut it and my Cardinal Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss it. As you can see both the cutting and embossing worked on the metal, but I have to tell you it required a little more effort than usual. I had to add some paper to shim on both the embossing and cutting. The most difficult part of this project was trying to photograph the metal. As you can see, I'm not the world's best photographer. This was the best picture of the bunch I took. The other item I used on this card is my new Winter Frolic Cricut cartridge. It has some great cuts on it but I just used it for the sentiment for this card. My background paper is SEI.
Hooray, it's Monday and that means a new challenge at BBTB2. It's also the last Monday of the month and that means it's time to blog hop. This week's challenge was picked by our super talented design team member, Penny. She chose the apron cut on the From My Kitchen cartridge. On a recent crafting expedition with my aunt I found this fantastic Graphic 45 Domestic Goddess paper and knew it would be perfect for my design. I wanted a vintage look to my apron and thought this paper was just right. I needed to share a pie recipe with a friend so I decided to make a shaped card with the recipe card cut using my Gypsy. I welded two of the recipe cards together so I could fold it like a file folder and insert my recipe inside. The height on each card I welded together is 4.25". My apron is cut at 3".
This cute little sentiment stamp is a digital from The Cutting Cafe. The pie in the center is From My Kitchen cut at 1". The word pie is also From My Kitchen cut at 3/4". The circle and scalloped circle are cut from Mini Monograms, circle at 1 3/4" and scallop at 2".
Another Monday and another BBTB2 challenge. This week we had to use Life's A Beach flamingo cut. Only there's a twist--the flamingo can't be pink. I made mine out of DCWV green glitter paper. Using the pineapple drink cut, also from LAB, I made a shaped card from brown cardstock using my Gypsy. It's cut at 6 1/2". My background paper is from Creative Imaginations. This card had a lot of layers to cut. I used DCWV yellow glitter paper for the straw and two colors of orange (one textured) cardstock for the slice of orange. My flamingo is cut at 3". There is no shadow cut on the LAB cartridge so I used my Magic Matter to make my own shadow for the flamingo using brown cardstock.
This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge is "Anything Goes". I was so glad that Mary made this challenge for the DT. I needed to make a birthday card for my golfing son-in-law so I used my new Celebrate With A Flourish cartridge from Walmart. I am a big fan of the new Cricut Lite cartridges found only at Walmart. So far I have purchased five of them and I love them all. As many of you know I have been spending the summer in my camper on the shores of Lake Huron. As a result, I have been enjoying my vacation and haven't spent a lot of time on other designing besides my DT responsibilities. But for this card I decided to use this week's sketch at Card Patterns. I found this cute golf paper when I was visiting my aunt's last week for our annual crafting and shopping expedition. We had a blast and you'll see some of the things we worked on in future posts. Anyway, back to this card. My golf bag is cut at 3" using a light green textured cardstock for the shadow, a dark green textured cardstock for the main cut and the argyle paper for the top layer. I cut the three little golf balls from the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge at 3/4". I used argyle paper for the inside and the stamp is from Inkadinkado.
My sentiment is printed onto a label cut from the new Cricut Lite cartridge Lacy Labels. If anyone is thinking about making the plunge into these cartridges that come from Walmart, I highly recommend this one. It has gorgeous labels in fantastic shapes, lacy looking doilies and lots of great sentiments. The layering is so easy and precise.
This week Mary picked a color challenge for us at Cricut Cardz. The colors are blue, orange yellow, white and black. My base card is a standard A2 card from white cardstock. My background paper is from DCWV The Crafty Stack. The blues, and oranges were perfect for this card.
This label is made from the new Cricut Lite Lacey Labels cartridge. This is a fantastic cartridge and very versatile. It's great for titles on scrapbook pages, sentiments on cards and even home decor. I have to tell you that the sentiments don't cut too well if they are too small and you try to use a thick paper, like textured cardstock. Make sure to use a lighter weight cardstock and put your speed on low or minimum for cutting delicate words like these. I find the layers on these Lite cartridges are easy to use and very precise. My shadow layer is cut in black. I used my all around favorite Bazzill Basics dotted cardstock for the yellow label and the blue flower oval. Just a few yellow rhinestones for embellishment to finish it off.
It's an exciting time for us at BBTB2. We have hit the 1,000 follower mark (1,042 as this is written). To celebrate there will be lots of giveaways this week so be sure to check in at the site starting tomorrow. This week's challenge for BBTB2 is to use the Life's A Beach lizard cut. I decided to use the frame cut card for my design. I thought it would be a perfect birthday card for a four year old. This is a five inch square base card cut from black cardstock. I used Heidi Grace paper for the lizards. I cut "Leaping Lizards" and the number 4 from the Life's A Beach cartridge, also. "Look Who's" was done in Word Art on my computer. The scalloped circle is from Mini Monograms. I pop dotted the small lizard and the scalloped circle for more dimension.
Happy Monday! It's Reader's Choice this week at BBTB2 and we are using a dinosaur. I used a dinosaur from the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge. I cut him at 3 3/4" from Heidi Grace paper. There is no shadow feature on PDDU so I used my Magic Matter to get his shadow cut. The tree and grass are also from PDDU. My sentiment is computer generated with Word Art. Doodling was done with a Sakura 3-D gel pen.
