Cricut Cardz Challenge #109 You Did It

This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge was perfectly timed for me.  Mary asked the Design Team to create a graduation card with the theme You Did It.  My oldest granddaughter graduated from high school on May 20th.  What an exciting day it was.  It was fun to see her graduate because I didn't get the privelege of seeing her mom graduate.  It's kind of a funny story now, but sure wasn't at the time.  Somehow, my daughter managed to slam her finger in the car door on the way to graduation and ended up at the emergency room instead of walking up to get her diploma.  We have a picture of her in her graduation gown holding up her hand all bandaged up.  Brytnie's school colors are blue and gray so I made her graduation card using those colors.  I thought it would be fun to do a shaped card and made it by welding two hats together from the Wrap It Up cartridge using my Gypsy.  I wasn't sure it was going to work because the fold is on an angle, but sure enough, I Did It!   The sentiment is cut from the Don Juan cartridge.  That's a cartridge I rarely use so was glad to see the exact sentiment on it.  I added some faux stitching all the way around and a button in the center.

BBTB2 Garden Challenge

Monday, again, already???  I can't even believe it's the last weekend of May and Memorial Day.  As it is Memorial Day, I can't let the chance go by to thank all our current and past military service members for their sacrifices for our country.  My son is a Marine and he's my HERO.  Time for a new challenge at BBTB2.  This is the last challenge for the month that our sweet Design Team sister, Julia, picked for us to create.  She came up with fantastic challenges and this week it's a garden theme.  Julia asked us to pick something that you'd find in the garden.  I don't really have a garden because we live in an RV but I love flowers and usually have a few pots sitting around the campsite.  I was excited that I got back to Northern Michigan in time to see the tulips blooming.  Nothing says spring more to me than a tulip.  We actually have a town in Michigan called Holland.  They have a tulip festival every year and the entire town is awash in tulips.  Anyway, I digress.  So for my card this week I used the Freshly Picked cartridge and made this flower box full of tulips.  I added a watering can and a pair of garden gloves to complete my card.  My printed papers are My Mind's Eye and my sentiment is from the Cardz TV Stamps Think Spring stamp set.

Cardz TV I Do challenge

This week for the Cardz TV Stamps challenge Mary asked the Design Team to create projects for an Engagement, Wedding or Bridal shower.  I made a favor box that would be perfect for any of the three occasions.  Wouldn't it be fun to receive an engagement ring in a pretty box like this?  Too bad I don't know any guys about to pop the question, because if I did I'd give them this pretty box to surprise their bride-to-be.  I added a tag to my box that would be appropriate for a wedding favor to thank the guests for coming.  The sentiment is from the Cardz TV stamp set Ticket Talk 2.  I was lucky enough to be the very first person to get their hands on this fun stamp set.  Mary gave it to me when she came to visit me in Florida back in April.  She had just received the proof set right before she came and gave it to me.  Thanks Miss Mary and again I'd like to say what a wonderful pleasure it was to meet you and your hubby and look forward to another visit whenever you get the opportunity.  I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 Cricut cartridge to cut this gable box.  Before assembling the box I embossed it with the Sizzix Tropical Paisley embossing folder.  I added a string of ribbon roses trim around the top of the box and a tulle ribbon with one of the roses placed in the center.  The tag was cut from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More (original).

BBTB2 Kitchen Challenge

Hooray!  It's Monday and time for a new BBTB2 challenge.  This week our fabulous DT teammate, Julia, asked the Design Team to create a project with something you'd find in your kitchen.  I used a couple different Cricut cartridges to create my project this week.  I used an oldie but goodie, From My Kitchen for the recipe card and the mixer and Savory for the bowl and rolling pin.  Savory is one of my new cartridges that I nabbed for only $25 a couple weeks ago at Walmart.  I love a good deal.  I know it's an older cartridge, too, but I didn't have it and was happy to find it.  I cut my recipe card from a scrap of red check paper at 4.25".  My mixing bowl and mixer are both cut at 1.75" from yellow textured cardstock.   I cut the little red trim for the mixing bowl from the Savory cartridge, also.  I used my Gypsy to design this card so I was able to easily see what size I needed the trim piece to be.  It's not part of the mixing bowl layers but is on the same cartridge.  I used the same red paper to cut the trim piece on the mixer and used a silver metallic paper for the beaters.  I printed up the Recipe for the Perfect Mom on my computer onto cream colored cardstock.  This little saying was a freebie that I found on the Hewlett Packard website.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #108 May Day

It's Cricut Cardz Challenge time on Cardz TV.  Mary asked the Design Team to create a project with flowers from any Cricut cartridge and we could make it in any color.  I used the Cricut Lite Bloom cartridge for my card.  As the name says there are lots of different blooming flowers on this cartridge.  I decided to put my vase of flowers in a frame to really highlight it.  The frame is from Elegant Edges cut at 3.75".  The vase of flowers is cut at 3".  I glued all the flowers in place and then used a green marker to hand draw the stems and leaves.  I used the Fabulous Finds cartridge to cut the tag for my sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Cardz TV Stamps Think Spring stamp set.

BBTB2 Bakery Challenge

It's Monday and time for a new BBTB2 challenge.  Our fabulous DT Sister, Julia, has really stepped up to the plate this month and given us gals on the DT some great challenges for the rest of the month.  For this week's challenge she asked us to create a project with something on it you'd find in a bakery.  I was very excited to use my new Cricut cartridge that I purchased at Walmart the other day.  As some of you may know my husband and I live in our RV.  We just returned to our summer campground on the shores of Lake Huron in East Tawas, Michigan.  When we left here last September I was very upset that they had removed the craft department in the Walmart that's just down the road.  I was so excited when we made our first trip there last week and found they put the whole craft department back in including the Cricut section.  Even more exciting I found several cartridges that were clearanced to $25 and picked up four of them.  Sadly, Love You A Latte was not clearanced, but I've wanted it since I first saw it and paid the full price for this one.  I used the two different donuts, the pretty cupcake, the teapot and the sentiment to put this card together.  I started with a standard A2 base card of cream cardstock.  I added a brown scalloped mat that I cut from the Elegant Edges cartridge.  Next I cut the teapot from of pink polka scrap of My Mind's Eye paper at 2.5", the sentiment at 1", and the goodies at .75 and 1".  For the finishing touch I embellished with a beige bow and a crocheted flower.  There are no shortages of bakery goodies you can find on Cricut cartridges so I hope you'll join our challenge this week at BBTB2.  Remember, you must create a new project for this challenge and it must include a CRICUT cut, since this is a Cricut challenge site.

And now, I'm off, literally!  We are on the road again.  This time we're not pulling the RV, though.  We are finally off to see our family.  We're so excited because we're going to see our oldest granddaughter graduate and our youngest grandson celebrate his first birthday.  My son will also be home on leave from the Marines.  We haven't seen our family in so long.  I just can't wait to hug all those grandbabies.  It will be a busy week, but FUN!  Thanks so much for coming by today.  And to my fabulously talented Design Team sisters--I've looked at all your wonderful projects and I'm so impressed with them all.  Forgive me if I don't get by your blogs to personally comment on your creations.  Please know that I'm spending some well deserved and long awaited time with my kids and grandkids.

BBTB2 Frame/Scrapbook challenge

Happy Monday!  It is most definitely a happy Monday for me.  Hubby and I have finished our travel north from Florida to Michigan  (and hooray, we're hooked up to the internet again).  It seems like it took forever, though it was only a week of meandering.  We're grateful to have arrived safely in our RV and look forward to spending time with kids and grandkids this summer.  We are missing the warmth and sunshine of Florida tremendously, though.  It has been cold (50's) and rainy since we arrived in East Tawas, Michigan.  My body is not used to the damp and believe me, every joint in my body is reminding me of that.  Speaking of visiting with kids and grandkids, one of the reasons we arrived when we did is to be able to see our oldest daughter's, oldest child graduate from high school.  How can I possibly be old enough to have a granddaughter graduating from high school?  I wanted to make her a special scrapbook as a remembrance so this is the first page of the album.  (Only 19 more pages to go!!!)  Geez, I remember this photo of her like it was yesterday.

This week's challenge at BBTB2 is to make a scrapbook layout with a frame on it.  Our wonderful DT sister, Melissa, asked us to make a scrapbook page as an extra challenge, usually we feature cards.  I used my favorite cartridge for creating scrapbook pages for this layout.  Elegant Edges is my go to cartridge for frames and borders.  If you don't own this cartridge, I highly recommend it.  You will not be disappointed.  I cut this frame at 9" to highlight my 4x6" photo.  I added a backing of cream colored cardstock and then matted the photo on a piece of Bazzill Dotted cardstock cut at 4.5x6.5".  I designed this layout on my Gypsy while we were traveling to Michigan.  Love my Gypsy when we're on the road.  I cut the scalloped border from the Elegant Edges cartridge, also, at 1x10".  For the title I used Gypsy font and spelled out the word Perfect then welded the letters together.  My banner is cut from the Sugar n' Spice cartridge along the the letters for the word GIRL.
I added a couple of storks that I believe came from the New Arrival cartridge, and embellished with a crocheted flower and button.  My journaling strips were done with my computer.  I hope that you'll get a chance to join our challenge at BBTB2 this week.  Now, just in case you don't do any scrapbooking, you are allowed to make a card instead of a layout using any frame from any CRICUT cartridge.  BBTB2 is a Cricut challenge site so that is why you must use a Cricut cut frame for this challenge to be elegible to win our project of the week badge to display on your blog.  Remember also, you must make a new creation for this challenge, no back links.  Have fun and thanks for stopping by and for the sweet comments you leave.  They are so appreciated.

Cardz TV Stamps Mom's the Word Blog Hop

I'm so excited it's Blog Hop day at Cardz TV.  The design team is highlighting projects for Mother's Day. You should have arrived here from the creative and talented Lynn's blog.  I've added the blog hop list to the bottom of my post, just in case you just happened by.  I love, love, love creating 3-D projects so I used my newest Cricut cartridge-Tags, Bags, Boxes and More2 to create a teacup.  I wanted paper that would look like it might be a china pattern.  What could be more classy than a Damask pattern.  This paper is from Canvas Corp and it'a called Balck a Kraft Damask.  Isn't it so pretty?  As always, when creating a 3-D project I cut one from white cardstock to get a better idea of size and how to put it together.  I cut this teacup at 8".  I added a black tulle bow and flower to the handle of the teacup and then filled a cellophane bag with organice green tea bags.  I tied the bag with black ribbon and added a tag stamped with I Love You! from the Ticket Talk stamp set.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #107 Mother's Day

It's time for another Cricut Cardz Challenge on Cardz TV and this week Mary asked the DT to design with the theme "There's No Mother Like My Mother".    I have two aunts that are the "mother figures" in my life and they're who I think of on Mother's Day.  I used my new Tags, Bags, Boxes and More2 cartridge for this Happy Mother's Day sentiment.  My fabulous patterned paper is from Jillibean's Dutch Mustard Soup collection. I love the bright, sunny colors.  Since my card has to be mailed I made it a flat card with no pop dots for dimension.  It's a simple A2 size card from white cardstock.  I let the paper do all the work on this one since it's double-sided.  I used the green polka dot side for a mat measuring 4 x 5.25" and the yellow side for a mat measuring 3.75 x 5".  I added a white strip to place my sentiment on and punched a delicate scallop on the bottom edge.  My sentiment is cut at 1.5".  Then I punched four flowers from the patterned paper and place them in the corners of the white paper.  I embellished with a crocheted flower with a button center.  Thanks so much for stopping by today and for the sweet comments that you leave.
