BBTB2 Heart challenge

This week's challenge at BBTB2 is to use more than one heart and the Lovestruck cartridge.  I don't have this cartridge so I used hearts from the Sweethearts cartridge. The heart I used is on page 72 of the manual.  I made this tri-fold card using my Gypsy and welding a circle and a rectangle together, then folding it in thirds.  My base card is made with a pink cardstock from Colorbok the back is white which allowed me to add my sentiments in red for the inside.  My DP is Cloud 9 Be Loved.  This card when folded is the same size as an A2 card.  My heart on the front is cut at 3".  I used red cardstock for the shadow layer, pink for the top heart layer and white for the doily looking layer.  The cute litte printed heart ribbon is from Michael's.  I embellished the front with pearls centered in each scallop, a heart charm and some doodling with a Sakura 3-D white gel pen.  Next came the first inside layer.
I traced the front flap onto my DP and hand cut it for the left side then added a piece cut 4 x 5 1/2" on the right side.  On top of this I added a scalloped circle cut from Mini Monograms at 5" from white cardstock and trimmed it so it fit under the front flap without showing.  I added the Hugs & Kisses sentiment (found on page 36) which I cut from red cardstock at 2 1/2".  Of course, I couldn't let it sit without adding some doodling using red on the scallops and white on the sentiment.  Now it was time for the inside.
Using my Gypsy I searched for an appropriate I Love You.  I found exactly what I was looking for on the Lyrical Letters cartridge.  I cut this sentiment at 4" from red cardstock and again added some doodling.  Finally I added the Happy Valentine's Day stamp from Inkadinkado that I purchased last year at JoAnn's from the $1 bin.  I stamped with red ink and then traced over the top of it with the 3-D red gel pen.  This may well become my signature shape card, I love it so much.  I suppose someone will come along and tell me there is a cartridge that has a card on it this shape, but since I made this one by welding two shapes together, I kind of feel like it's all mine.  I just love how this one turned out.  Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Cutz Challenge #76

Wow! I can't believe it's Friday already and the last Friday of the month.  Wasn't Christmas just yesterday?  We've moved on to the next holiday...Valentine's Day.  Mary asked us to create something for Valentine's Day using cake, cupcake, cookies or candy.  I had this great shaped card from The Cutting Cafe that came to mind immediately.  This is the CANDY SHAPED CARD SET AND PDF TEMPLATE.  I printed, cut and assembled.  It's that simple...well, not quite, but almost.  I added a lot of glitter in both pink and crystal, added a little stitching, a heart I cut with my Cricut and a heart button.  Finished it off with some white organdy ribbon.  Hope you get a chance to play along with our sweet challenge this week.  I'm sure we're going to see some yummy stuff.

My Pink Stamper Imagine Pink Wednesday Challenge

My Pink Stamper has a challenge going for a card with something yummy on it for Imagine Pink Wednesday.  I used my Imagine to make this yummy cake card.  Base card is A2 white cardstock with a piece of green cardstock on top.  The polka dot paper note card was printed and cut from my Imagine along with the sentiment and piece of cake.  I cut all the layers and added pop dots for dimension.  There are a lot of things I like about the Imagine machine.  Being able to print my own paper from white cardstock is right up there at the top, but I also enjoy being able to whip up a card in no time at all with all the elements so easily at my disposal.  From start to finish, this card took six minutes.

Just For Fun

I don't often have the time to play along with any challenges anymore just for FUN, so I'm taking a break and making something just for me, 'cuz I want to.  I checked a few blogs for challenges and these are the ones I've decided would work for me:

Crafty Cardmakers-Flowers
Daring Cardmakers-It's All About Me
Freshed Brewed Challenges-Photo Inspiration
Mojo Monday-Sketch
Penny's Challenges-Anything
Stamping Vacation-Pick 3-Buttons, Chipboard, Floss

I have to say my real inspiration came from my blogging buddy Stef (aka Glitterbabe).  Yesterday she posted a card using chipboard and said that she never used it.  Well, neither do I.  So I challenged myself, on the spot, that today I was going to make something with chipboard.  Stamping Vacation has a Pick 3 challenge going where you have to pick three items to use on your card from a list.  Chipboard is one of the items (I also used buttons and floss).  I have this big box of chipboard that's been sitting in my studio for about five years.  Every once in awhile I get the box out and look through it, then put the lid back on and put it away.  I guess I'm put off by the fact that I have to do something with it.  Can't just use it looking like plain old cardboard.  So this morning I got it out, having decided to go with a flower theme for Crafty Cardmakers, grabbed some petals and went to work.  I covered the petals with a bright pink paper from Me & My Big Ideas, trimmed and chalked the edges.  I went with pink after seeing the photo inspiration at Freshly Brewed with pink flowered bedding.  I knew I needed to use bright, vibrant colors because after all this card is all about me, just like Daring Cardmakers wants.  Not to say I'm a bright color person.  I used them to cheer myself up because it's another dull, dreary winter day in Michigan.  I hate, hate, hate winter.  I'm looking forward to Spring, which is still quite a way off.  So now I had all my elements and decided to use the fabulous sketch from Mojo Monday.

I placed my petals into a flower shape and mounted them onto a doily.  I added a little bow to one petal and a button with floss to the center.  I know a  lot of people just put the buttons on without adding floss and leave the holes showing.  It's the type A personality thing that just doesn't allow me to do that.  I can't stand to see those holes sitting there with no thread in them (or maybe it's my sewing background).  Then I stamped my Happy Spring from Stampendous onto the same pink petal paper, trimmed it and added a pop dot under it.  Now doesn't this card just shout Spring.  Now I just have to put my blinders on and not glance out the window to see the bare maple tree and snow and I'll be all set.

The Cutting Cafe Pillow Box SVG

I was so excited today to find out that Regina at The Cutting Cafe has converted some of her files to SVG.  I just got SCAL software from my husband for Christmas.  This is part of the PILLOW BOX SET that comes with a plain box, heart, star, circle and frame cut outs.  I was looking for a container of some sort to put these yummy candy coated dark chocolate mints in.  They came from Trader Joe's.  I whipped this together in about 10 minutes.  I cut the box and added acetate to the window before assembling it.  I tied a bow around the end, added a tag and heart button.  The tag came from another Cutting Cafe set called VALENTINE'S DAY MINI WORDS.  I used a tag punch from Marvy.

BBTB2 Once Upon A Princess Butterfly Layout

It's Monday and time for another BBTB2 challenge.  This week's challenge is to use the butterfly from Once Upon A Princess found on page 59.  I use this cartridge often to scrapbook little girl pages. This is my youngest grandchild, Paige.  She's a tiny, dainty little thing with the biggest blue eyes.  She is 17 months old now and just grew out of her 9 month size clothes.  She is very precious as the title says.  She was born premature after my daughter was in a car accident at the end of her 7th month of pregnancy and has overcome numerous developemental struggles.  She still has kidney problems but we're hoping she will eventually outgrow them.  According to her pediatrician they have not gotten any worse, but stay the same.  She had a MRI last week to check the development of her brain.  We are waiting for those results.  But she is walking now which is very encouraging.

I have to thank our fabulous design sister, Lori, for choosing this cute butterfly for our challenge this week.  I had already decided to use this title for this picture so it worked out perfectly for me.  I used white, pink, purple and blue cardstock for the elements on this page.  I think the background paper is from Paper Studio, but it has been in my paper rack for a long time.  I just stumbled upon it the other day.  I know what you're saying... I hear it from my husband all the time, "you don't even know what paper you have".  I'm old, I have a bad memory.  It's not because I have too much.  LOL  My butterflies are cut at 2 1/2 and 3 inches.  The title is cut at 4 3/4" and is found on the same page as the butterfly.  I scattered all the little hearts that were leftover cuts from the butterflies around the page.  I couldn't stand to throw them away.  I hope you can join us at BBTB2 for the butterfly challenge this week.  Remember, if you don't have Once Upon A Princess you can use a butterfly from another Cricut cartridge.

More Dr. Seuss Baby Album Pages and ultrasound of grandchild #9

My next installment of my Dr. Seuss album for grandchild #9 comes with an announcement and great news.  We finally know what sex the new baby will be.  Clearly you can see in this fantastic ultrasound picture we got yesterday.  We're very excited that finally we have a baby that will carry on the family name.  Since our first four kids were girls their names changed with marriage.  But now our son is having a son and we're thrilled.

Sorry, couldn't help doing a little bragging.  Anyway on to the layout pages.  These two pages will be for pictures of all the proud family members.  This baby has three sets of grandparents and three sets of great grandparents to meet, not to mention lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.
All the miniature books were downloaded from Seussland.com.  The title was printed with a Dr. Seuss font as well as the quote.
Thanks for looking in.  My next pages of the scrapbook will feature Horton the elephant and his little friends.  Check back in a few days to see it.

Glitterbabe's Digis New Home

Well, I just had to post this for one of my favorite people.  Stef (aka Glitterbabe) is setting up a new home for her digi images.  Stef is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one of the most fun people you'll ever know.  If you haven't been to her blog, you haven't had the chance to smile and laugh.  What a sense of humor this gal has.  Anyway, she is setting up a new shop for her digital images.  I had the chance to check it out, and boy, is it easy to navigate.  Here is the current link to Glitterbabe's Art.  Stef has some great images that she draws.  Man I can't even draw a decent looking square.  Anyway, while you're there make sure you pick up her great freebie for Valentine's Day.

Mini Card Set /Paper Cutz #75

It's Friday---Hooray!!!  Who's not excited to start the weekend?  Friday means a new challenge at Paper Cutz.  This week was an easy one for the Design Team and it will be for you too...Anything goes.  When I got the word on this week's challenge I was in the midst of creating this set of mini cards for my aunt, so I was all set.  I made these little cards with a new set of printable stamps from The Cutting Cafe called ANIMAL AND BUG MINI COLORED CIRCLE SET.  This is another fantastic set from Regina that has nine adorable animal/bug images to work with.  The set comes with the circle sentiments that punch out with a 2" circle punch, the animals alone that punch out with a 1.5" circle punch, some fun polka dot borders and big colored circles that you can use as background.  Fun, fun, fun set.
There is a little story behind this set of cards for my aunt. She loves to craft but has been having health problems for the last year and hasn't been able to do much. It makes her really sad that she hasn't been able to make cards for her friends the way she wants to. So I made this little set for her to have on hand to put with the baked goods she makes for all her friends. These are 3 x 3" scalloped edge cards that I cut with my Cricut from the Christmas Cards cartridge. I topped the white cardstock with a piece of pastel plaid. After printing the mini colored animal stamps I punched them out with a 2" punch then placed them on a scalloped circle cut from the Mini Monograms catridge.  I made the little envelopes for the cards using another Cutting Cafe set called Gift Enclosure Card Box template set.  This set has a box (which you will see in a future post) to put the mini cards in and comes with a template for the cards with square or round corners and the envelope.

Then to package them up I placed them into a cellophane bag and used the Heart Goodie Bag set, again from The Cutting Cafe.  I made it without cutting the heart out.  I added the bee (without the circle sentiment) that I punched out with a 1.5" EK Success circle punch.  I printed the All Occasion with my computer and added it to the bag so my aunt would know what kind of cards were in the set.  I also made a set of mini Valentine cards that you will see in a future post.  I've decided to make her a set each month, so this is January's set.  Next month will be the Valentine set.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #58

Well, here we are settled into another winter.  What image reminds us of winter more than a snowman.  The challenge this week at Cricut Cardz is to make a card using any snowman image for any occasion using any colors and any cartridge.  I needed a birthday card for my father-in-law so I decided to use this happy snowman from the Smiley Cards cartridge. This is my first card I've made using this cartridge that ProvoCraft offered to Gypsy owners.  It has some really cute images on it and they're all fun and cheerful looking.  The base card is 5 1/4" square also cut from Smiley Cards and the snowman is cut at 4".  I like the card because it has a cute little scallop at the bottom.  All the papers are scraps from my scrap bin. You'll see what a great job I'm doing of using those scraps if you look at my last post and see I've used the same patterned paper.  I didn't realize I'd even done that until I was checking this post last night.  If I had realized it, I never would have made two cards from the same paper to post just days apart.  Oh well, too late now.  I keep using those scraps, but it never looks like I even make a dent in them.  Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?  I hope you can join us at Cricut Cardz this week with a snowman card of your own.  There are so many to choose from on lots of different cartridges.  Thanks for stopping by.

BBTB2 Birthday Bash-Armidillo

I was excited to use my new Birthday Bash cartridge for this week's BBTB2 challenge.  Krista asked us to use the armidillo cut.  As it turned out, a bunch of the DT didn't have this cartridge, so the challenge was altered to include a bird cut as alternate.  I just so happened to need a birthday card for one of my teenage grandson's so the armidillo worked well for me.  I decided to use the phrase feature cut for my card and included the party hat from the tag cut (shift key on).  I got out my sewing machine to add some stitching to this card.  I used scraps to put this card together so I'm not sure where the patterned paper came from.  This is a 5 x 6 1/2" card so my phrase is cut at 4 1/4".  The hat is cut at 2".  I added a white pom pom and lots of doodling with a white gel pen to finish this guy off.

Dr. Seuss Scrapbook Pages 4 & 5

These two pages of the album are for the baby's birth statistics and first picture.  The title banner was cut from Cricut's Twinkle Toes cartridge with the fit to length feature on and cut at 11".  The letters are Dr. Seuess font cut with SCAL.
The name/date words were cut from Cricut's New Arrival cartridge.  The background was cut at 7.5" from red cardstock and the white cardstock was cut at 7.25".  I punched the holes in the white scallop before layering them.  The words were cut at 4".
I found a great website for Dr. Seuss pictures from his books called Seussland.com and have used them throughout the album.  I placed the fish pictures on red cardstock and then printed the poem, again using the Dr. Seuss font.  You can read the poem in the photo below.

I'm having the best time putting this album together and I know my son and daughter-in-law are just going to love it.  By next week at this time we will know whether they are having a boy or a girl.  Since Kyle is our only son it would be nice if they had a boy to carry on the family name.  On the other hand,  I really enjoy little girls and all the cute little clothes to dress them in.  Either will be fine with me, as long as it is healthy.  If you missed the first two pages of the album you can see them HERE.  Check back over the weekend, I will be posting a couple more double page layouts.

Paper Cutz Challenge #74

This week's Paper Cutz Challenge is for a card or project using a tag.  I have this package of K & Company tags that I've never used and it coordinates with their Classic Designer Paper stack.  It's one of my all time favorite paper stacks I've ever purchased.  The only problem I have with it is the paper is so beautiful I can barely stand to cut it up and use it.  I know that's silly, but there you have it.  Over the summer in our travels I came across some premade flowers that coordinate with the paper stack, too.  They were clearanced so I couldn't resist getting them. So for this card I decided to put them all together and this is what I came up with.  I think it turned out so vintage looking.  I added a paper doily that I inked with creamy brown chalk ink.  The sentiment is a Studio G $1 stamp.  I used the same creamy brown ink for the sentiment.  I rounded all the edges of the standard A2 card to give it a softer look and match it up with the rounded edges of the tag.  I hope you'll play along and add your tag project to the challenge.

Valentine Treat box

My project for today is this darling little treat box that I made for my husband for Valentine's Day.  I embellished the box top with a tag and a heart from The Cutting Cafe.  The tag came from the Valentine's Day Mini Word Stamp Set and the heart came from the Fun With Hearts Stamp Set.  The mini words set comes with a total of 36 mini words.  I printed the whole sheet so I could use the rest of the words on other projects.  Regina has easy to follow directions and tutorials on the Cutting Cafe website on using her printable sets.  You can find directions there on how to print just one image off a sheet, which is what I did for the heart.  I printed the heart with the little tiny hearts on it on white cardstock.  Then I used a Copic marker (R27) to color the hearts red.  I used my Magic Matter to make a red mat to place the colored heart on.  I almost forgot to tell you where I got the pattern for the cute cake box.  It came from Paper Crafts website of download files.  Here is the link for the lid and here is the link for the bottom.  For my lid I used a Fiskars scallop punch on the edge.  My patterned paper I used for the bottom of the box came from DCWV Farmer's Market stack.  A little red rick rack for the lid and red twine to tie the heart and tag on and I was finished.  I filled the box with Hershey's Hugs and Kisses chocolate candy.  I should have taken a picture of them in the box before I tied it shut.  I guess I was anxious to tie that lid on so I wouldn't be tempted to eat the goodies.  LOL  I admit, my one vice in the world is chocolate.

BBTB2 Hummingbird

Happy Monday and it's time for the first BBTB2 challenge of the 2011 year.  Our fantastic Design Sister Karen chose the Hummingbird on the Lyrical Letters cartridge.  I don't know why I found this simple cut so challenging, but it was, for me anyway.  I think it's because there were no layers to work with.  So I decided to cut it from white cardstock and then color it with my Copics. I cut the hummingbird at 3.25" and flipped the image. After I colored it I used irredescent glitter over the entire surface.  I wasn't really sure what would happen to my colors after applying glue and glitter, but as you can see, it turned out fine.  My flower image is cut from last year's Easter cartridge at 4".  I put the top layer through my Cuttlebug using the Japanese Scales folder. All the papers I used on this card were scraps that have been laying in my scrap bin for ages.  The sentiment is from Inkadinkado.  If you want to play along with this challenge and don't have a hummingbird image feel free to use another bird.    Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Dr. Seuss Scrapbook for Grandchild #9

My only son, my fifth and youngest child, and his lovely wife are expecting their first baby.  We are very excited to have grandchild number nine on the way.  The baby is due May 23rd, on my son's birthday.  We won't know if it's a boy or girl until January 20th and can't wait to find out.  Kyle and Nicole have decided to go with a Dr. Seuss theme for the nursery.  With that in mind, I decided to create a scrapbook for the baby so I can present it to them at the baby shower, which will also be Dr. Seuss themed.  Several years ago I remember seeing a Dr. Seuss scrapbook kit.  Not knowing that I would need it for the future, I passed it by.  Now I can't find any Dr. Seuss scrapbook paper.  I have been all over the internet with no luck.  So I had to proceed without it.  I knew I wanted to use a red and blue theme, because those are the Cat in the Hat colors.  I searched the internet and found a free Dr. Seuss font and some free clip art so that is what I will be using to make up the scrapbook.  My husband bought me SCAL software for Christmas so I used it to cut out the title page here.

This Cat in the Hat image is one of the clip art images I downloaded.  I printed it then cut it to place between two photo mats for pictures.  The umbrella he's holding was cut from my Cricut A Child's Year cartridge. The raindrops were cut from the Indie Art cartridge.  I added some gingham checked ribbon on the two large photo mats that will hold 4x6 pics.  I cut smaller mats for the second page and added a little white rick rack to finish them off.
Over the next month or two I will post other pages as they are finished.  I have quite a few ideas and pages mapped out.  I think you'll enjoy the pages I put together so check back often.  This year I have set a goal to get back to my scrapping roots (pre-card designer).  That is where my papercrafting journey began.  So in the coming year you will see a lot more scrapbook pages on my blog along with my cards.  I don't plan on coming out of my studio until Spring.  LOL  Since we didn't get to leave for the winter in Florida we were planning I have to do something to occupy myself.  I just absolutely detest winter.  There is nothing about it that appeals to me.  I know all you snow lovers are cringing.  If I never saw another snowflake the rest of my life, that would be fine with me.  I need to find a place to live that is around 75 degrees year-round. That would be just wonderful. LOL  Thanks for stopping by and remember to check back for future pages of the album.

Paper Cutz Challenge #73

For the first Paper Cutz Challenge of the year Mary asked us to use metal.  For my card I used a green metal buckle and a yellow safety pin.  This was a really easy card to throw together.  This is a standard A2 card from white cardstock.  I ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Floral Fantasy embossing folder to give it a little texture.  I added a 1.75" strip of Heidi Grace paper to the bottom edge.  This is a double-sided paper so I used the reverse side to add a punched edge strip using a Fiskars punch.  Then I simply took the buckle and tied on a piece of polka dot ribbon then added the safety pin.  I used some bead letters to spell the word HI.
I think this card is really cheerful looking.  I'm sending this to a friend so I didn't add a sentiment to the inside since I will be adding a handwritten note.  All of the embellishments on this card have been in my stash for ages.  Last year's New Year's resolution was to use more of my scrap paper.  Even though I used a lot of scraps, you can't even tell I made a dent in them.  This year's resolution is to embellish with the stuff I have and keep using those scraps.  This card allowed me to fulfill both resolutions.  I'm patting myself on the back.

The Cutting Cafe Valentine Project

Oh my gosh!  Have you been to The Cutting Cafe lately?  Regina has released some absolutely fantastic Valentine sets.  Now is the time to start your Valentine projects, February 14th will be here before you know it.  For my project I used the Words of Love Colored Printable Stamp Set.  This is a huge set that comes with 69 images.  I also used the Fun With Valentine's Day Printable Stamp Set which features 59 images (my inside tag).  To start I printed out the background conversation hearts that come with a light pink background.  I printed the large image onto a sheet of 8.5 x 11" white cardstock.  Then I took this printed sheet and used my Cricut Just Because Cards cartridge (the card on page 44) to make my envelope for my tag.  This actually cuts out as a card but I folded it in the middle and used double-sided tape on the right edge and bottom to make it into an envelope.  Then I cut the tag for inside (which is on the same page 44) from pink cardstock. The envelope is cut with the width at 7" (height @ 5.35") and the tag is cut with a height of 5" (width @ 3.23").

To embellish the outside of the envelope I punched a border with a Fiskars punch from brown and pink cardstock then layered them.  Before adding the punched border to the envelope I added a brown polka dot ribbon.  Next came the cute circle sentiment, part of the WORDS OF LOVE set.  I printed it and punched it out with a 2" circle punch then place it on a scalloped circle I cut at 2.5" from Mini Monograms.  I added a little doodling with a white gel pen and a few brown dots with a MS sepia colored marker.  For the tag I layered red and brown cardstock onto my pink tag.  I printed the 3 things I love about you from the FUN WITH VALENTINE'S DAYset onto pink cardstock.  On the top of the tag I punched a hole for my twine then added a pink button with a red heart button on top of it.  I'll be giving this to my granddaughter Payton and as you can see I love her HUGS, KISSES and SMILES.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #56

Happy Wednesday and Happy New Year!  It's time for the first Cricut Cardz Challenge of the year 2011. The challenge is for a New Year's card using any Cricut cut clock image and any colors.  I used my Gypsy to design this card by welding a circle to a card cut from Smiley Cards.  That allowed me to offset my clock image from Designer's Calendar.  The clock is cut at 3.25" from black cardstock. The base card is made from kraft cardstock, which I'm addicted to.  I stamped flourishes onto the paper with a Basic Grey stamp.  I used Gypsy font to create my Time Flies sentiment.  Normally I would weld the letters together but it was easier to put them in a circular shape cutting them individually.  The way I placed them it looks like they are attached but they aren't.  I added a little pleated gingham ribbon and attached the hands of the clock with a gold brad.  My inside sentiment is from the Wild Card cartridge.

Ballerina Layout for My Pink Stamper challenge

My four year old granddaughter, Payton, just started taking ballet lessons because she wants to be a "ballerina princess".  My husband and I jokingly say we hope she has a backup plan because there isn't much of a need for "ballerina princesses".  When I saw that Robyn was having a design team call for My Pink Stamper I knew this would be perfect to enter in the challenge.  The challenge requirements were to use pink, green and brown.  I used my new Twinkle Toes cartridge that I picked up from Walmart at the day after Thanksgiving sale and my Lacy Labels cartridge.  My patterned papers came from DCWV Nana's Nursery Baby Girl stack.  For my title banner I used green, pink and brown cardstock. I cut the banner with the fit to length key on and the size dial at 9 1/2".  That cut the banner at 2 3/4" which is important to note for cutting the elements on the banner.  I embossed the banner heart for some dimension using my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. For a finishing touch on the banner I added stitching lines and dots to the lettering with a Sakura 3-D white gel pen.  I placed the banner atop a strip of flower patterned paper with a punched edge made with a MS punch and white cardstock.
My ballerina is cut at 4".  The Twinkle Toes cartridge makes the layering so easy.  I used the flower patterned paper for her skirt and pink cardstock for the top and ballerina slippers.  It doesn't show up in the photo but the flowers on this patterned paper are sparkly.  I added a few more glittery elements with the flowers I placed next to the photo mat and the heart word in the banner.  Payton loves glitter so this will make her happy.  For the photo mat I used my Lacy Labels cartridge.  The mat is actually made from the cut that is labeled All Boy.  Make it out of pink, green and white and it screams All Girl to me.  Before adding the mat to the page I backed it with light pink tulle.  Then I added a big tulle bow with a large pink flower button in the center.  I just love how this page turned out and I can't wait to show it to Payton.  She's going to love it.

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!

Well, I for one, am glad to end 2010 and begin a new year.  December was a bit rough for me as I spent the whole month going to doctor appointments and being sick.  My husband and I were both so sick on Christmas day that we opened our presents in bed.  At this point we have pretty much recovered from the nastiest bug we've ever had but still have a few health issues to deal with.  As a result, we've had to cancel our winter plans to travel to Florida.  Of course, the recent weather had something to do with canceling the plans also.  So it seems we are stuck in Michigan's cold, snow and gloom for the winter.  I'm desperately trying to look on the bright side.  It will give us the time we need to prepare the house to put it on the market for sale in the spring.  It will also give me lots of time to work in my studio on scrapbook and card designs.  Onto this card--I used images from The Cutting Cafe's HAPPY NEW YEAR'S PRINTABLE STAMPS. Just click on the set to go to the link. I printed the background stamp on silver cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped and then I cut it out with my nesties.  I used my Cricut Weddings cartridge to cut the glasses that I placed on a piece of white cardstock embossed with my Cuttlebug's Swiss Dot folder.  I added a big grey ribbon to finish it off.
