The Cutting Cafe 3 Tier Box

I can't go on with any part of this post without apologizing for my awful photo. No matter what position I clicked from I just could not get a decent photo. The picture doesn't do this Cutting Cafe 3-Tiered Box any justice at all.

So today the Cutting Cafe Design Team is using the 3-Tiered Cake Box Template and Cutting File. I will tell you that I had to alter my box sizes slightly for my purpose because I had specific items to go in the boxes, as I made this to give my daughter for her wedding. Today, April 21st, hubby and I are attending our daughter's wedding in Michigan. For us Floridians, can I just say it's awfully darn cold here. I left 90 degrees and arrived to 45 degrees. Shocking to my system, to say the least. What possessed her to choose a location at the farthest northern spot of the lower peninsula, I'll never know. It was her decision to make anyway, so no matter where she chose we would be there.

Anyway, back to my design. I used K & Company papers for the box. I used the SVG file and my Cricut Explore to cut all my pieces. As a side note, I first cut a prototype from white cardstock to get my sizes all right. If you have really good paper that you are planning to use, I would suggest you do the same, just in case anything goes wrong. I was so glad I did this because I did make a mistake along the way. If I had used the pretty paper first I would have ruined it and I didn't have anymore. After cutting all the pieces and assembling the boxes I did some simple embellishment of each "layer" by adding lace along the top edge. I didn't want to cover too much of the gorgeous paper on the top so I die cut a felt rose and a couple leaves and added them off to the side so the prettiest part of the paper could still be seen. I know you'll want to see the rest of the Design Team's creations using this awesome box so check out The Cutting Cafe Blog. Oh, I forgot to mention this cutting file also comes with a box to put the cake in for presentation. I forgot to take a photo of mine before I packed it to take on the trip. So sorry, but you can see the awesome cake and box Regina made HERE on The Cutting Cafe website.

The Cutting Cafe Big Expressions HUG

Hello Friends-It's time for the 7th of the month Cutting Cafe project! Today the Design Team is creating projects using some of The Cutting Cafe Big Expression Printable and Cutting File sets. I've used (obviously) HUG. I've added a little something special to my HUG card, the darling elephant from the new Cutting Cafe Shop Clear Stamp Set Animal & Bug Love. Isn't he just adorable? I'm so smitten with how precious he is I want to use him on every card I make. I just can't help myself. I did a little paper piecing on him to give him a cute polka dot ear to match the lettering. This was so easy to put together. I just printed the Sentiment onto my paper, printed the separate letters on a coordinating patterned paper then glued them onto the printed sentiment. I stamped the elephant on another coordinating patterned paper and fussy cut him, then stamped his ear on the polka dot paper and cut it. I glued the ear in place and attached the elephant on top of the U. To finish off the card I attached a small hemp bow to the elephant's trunk and added a little doodling with a black gel pen. Make sure you check out The Cutting Cafe Blog on February 7th to see the rest of the Design Team Big Expression projects. Thanks for stopping by.

The Cutting Cafe Bendi - Bendy Card

It's Design Team project time at The Cutting Cafe Blog. It's a free week for the DT and I decided to use Regina's new Bendi-Bendy card template for my project. Have you heard of Bendy cards? I hadn't, until Regina sent the file out to the Team. I fell in love with it immediately. It's always fun to find new ways to make a standard A2 size card. This card folds flat for mailing but becomes three dimensional when assembled. I also used several other Cutting Cafe files to decorate my Bendy card. The Christmas Tree with Presents Shaped card, the Christmas Tree Trio Shaped card, and Christmas Card Banners. I started this card by using the SVG Bendy Card file and my Cricut Explore Air to cut it wirelessly. (Something else I'm in love with, my new Cricut Explore Air). After I had the base of the card and the mats cut, I took the large mat on the back (tallest) section of the card and ran it through my printer to get the colored star banner on it. I was so glad I thought about doing this because I think it's perfect behind the trees. On the middle section of the card I used the medium size tree from the Christmas Tree Trio shaped cards. I printed it, fussy cut it, then ran it through my Cuttlebug with a Darice Dots embossing folder and added some doodling with my white gel pen around some of the dots. On the front panel of the card I used the smallest Christmas tree from the Christmas Tree Trio shaped card and ran it through the Cuttlebug Spots and Dots folder and added more doodling with my white gel pen. Next I printed the presents from the Christmas Tree with Presents shaped card on kraft cardstock and red cardstock. I assembled the presents and bows, inking the edges of the presents and adding some white gel pen accents on the bows and spread them around the tree. You're definitely going to want to get this Bendy card file for yourself. I promise you're going to love it as much as I do. Don't forget to stop by The Cutting Cafe Blog to see the rest of the inspiring designs from the TEAM. This is my last post of the year. I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful holiday season and blessings for the New Year. I appreciate you all and thank you for visiting my blog. I'm looking forward to the New Year and bringing you more inspiration.

The Cutting Cafe Let's Go For A Ride

I wanted to make a quick card today to send to my granddaughter.  I haven't seen her in awhile and wanted to make sure she didn't forget how much I love her.  I whipped this card together with a couple new sets from The Cutting Cafe.  I used the BICYCLE BACKGROUND PRINTABLE STAMP SET and the LET'S GO FOR A RIDE SET.  The scalloped black frame came from the older set ANIMAL AND BUG LOVE PRINTABLE STAMP SET.  The thing I love most about The Cutting Cafe sets is the quickness and ease of putting together a card on the spur of the moment.  For this card I started with a black cardstock A2 card and topped it with a kraft cardstock mat.  All of my printed elements are done on kraft cardstock.  First I printed the scalloped frame and cut it out.  Then I printed the little bicycle right on this scalloped frame.  I did that by first printing the bicycle on a scrap piece of printer paper then placing my scalloped frame over the top of that printing, aligning it so the bicycle would print on the bottom half of the scalloped frame.  All I had to do after that was print out a sheet of the background words and trim a piece to fit inside the scalloped frame.  For a little pop of color I added a scrap of red polka dot paper to separate the words from the image, added a piece of black rick rack and then placed the sentiment (from the Let's Go For A Ride set) on some pop dots.  I added a little red Copic marker to the flowers on the bicycle and a little doodling with a white gel pen to finish it off.   I know Payton is going to love getting this card in the mail from Nana.

The Cutting Cafe St. Patricks Day

I can't believe it isn't Valentine's Day yet and here I am looking forward to St. Patrick's Day.  That's because...it makes me think of spring.  There's a fabulous new set at The Cutting Cafe if you want to get ahead on your designing too.  I made this fabulous shaped card with the 4-LEAF CLOVER SHAPED CARD TEMPLATE/CUTTING FILE.  I'm so excited that Regina is offering SVG files now at The Cutting Cafe.  It let's me put my SCAL software hubby got me for Christmas to good use.  This card went together quickly.  I cut the base from a dark green cardstock and the topper from a gingham check.  I added the sentiment which was a pre-made die cut from Best Creation, Inc. A simple green silk ribbon bow and a little faux-stitching with a white gel pen finished it off.

Mini Card Set /Paper Cutz #75

It's Friday---Hooray!!!  Who's not excited to start the weekend?  Friday means a new challenge at Paper Cutz.  This week was an easy one for the Design Team and it will be for you too...Anything goes.  When I got the word on this week's challenge I was in the midst of creating this set of mini cards for my aunt, so I was all set.  I made these little cards with a new set of printable stamps from The Cutting Cafe called ANIMAL AND BUG MINI COLORED CIRCLE SET.  This is another fantastic set from Regina that has nine adorable animal/bug images to work with.  The set comes with the circle sentiments that punch out with a 2" circle punch, the animals alone that punch out with a 1.5" circle punch, some fun polka dot borders and big colored circles that you can use as background.  Fun, fun, fun set.
There is a little story behind this set of cards for my aunt. She loves to craft but has been having health problems for the last year and hasn't been able to do much. It makes her really sad that she hasn't been able to make cards for her friends the way she wants to. So I made this little set for her to have on hand to put with the baked goods she makes for all her friends. These are 3 x 3" scalloped edge cards that I cut with my Cricut from the Christmas Cards cartridge. I topped the white cardstock with a piece of pastel plaid. After printing the mini colored animal stamps I punched them out with a 2" punch then placed them on a scalloped circle cut from the Mini Monograms catridge.  I made the little envelopes for the cards using another Cutting Cafe set called Gift Enclosure Card Box template set.  This set has a box (which you will see in a future post) to put the mini cards in and comes with a template for the cards with square or round corners and the envelope.

Then to package them up I placed them into a cellophane bag and used the Heart Goodie Bag set, again from The Cutting Cafe.  I made it without cutting the heart out.  I added the bee (without the circle sentiment) that I punched out with a 1.5" EK Success circle punch.  I printed the All Occasion with my computer and added it to the bag so my aunt would know what kind of cards were in the set.  I also made a set of mini Valentine cards that you will see in a future post.  I've decided to make her a set each month, so this is January's set.  Next month will be the Valentine set.

Valentine Treat box

My project for today is this darling little treat box that I made for my husband for Valentine's Day.  I embellished the box top with a tag and a heart from The Cutting Cafe.  The tag came from the Valentine's Day Mini Word Stamp Set and the heart came from the Fun With Hearts Stamp Set.  The mini words set comes with a total of 36 mini words.  I printed the whole sheet so I could use the rest of the words on other projects.  Regina has easy to follow directions and tutorials on the Cutting Cafe website on using her printable sets.  You can find directions there on how to print just one image off a sheet, which is what I did for the heart.  I printed the heart with the little tiny hearts on it on white cardstock.  Then I used a Copic marker (R27) to color the hearts red.  I used my Magic Matter to make a red mat to place the colored heart on.  I almost forgot to tell you where I got the pattern for the cute cake box.  It came from Paper Crafts website of download files.  Here is the link for the lid and here is the link for the bottom.  For my lid I used a Fiskars scallop punch on the edge.  My patterned paper I used for the bottom of the box came from DCWV Farmer's Market stack.  A little red rick rack for the lid and red twine to tie the heart and tag on and I was finished.  I filled the box with Hershey's Hugs and Kisses chocolate candy.  I should have taken a picture of them in the box before I tied it shut.  I guess I was anxious to tie that lid on so I wouldn't be tempted to eat the goodies.  LOL  I admit, my one vice in the world is chocolate.
