Card Patterns sketch/Stampin'4 the Weekend

What a fun day this has been for me. I celebrated my first real day of retirement by staying in my craft room all day. I made several cards today for several challenges and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It kept me from missing the first day of school, the halls all shiny, the desks all in a row with name tags on them, the children's excitement as the doors opened..... Anyhow, I made this card using Card Patterns sketch #31 and did the color challenge of pink, orange and teal for Stampin' 4 the Weekend. Sometimes when I see a color challenge I think, YUK, those are horrible colors. But then I look through my paper stash and find something with those colors and it doesn't look so bad. This is a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" card. I used papers from DCWV Spring Stack. My digital sentiment is from Squigglefly. Other supplies I used for this card:
  • Teal and off white cardstock
  • Martha Stewart glitter pens
  • Nestabilities scalloped squares
  • Beige button and twine

The flowers were cut from the DCWV paper and then I used glitter pens to outline each petal. I used foam to add layering to the flowers.

Allsorts,OCC,OneStop,Shelly's sketch

There are lots of challenges going on with this card. The Allsorts challenge this week called for three flowers, two papers and one ribbon. Our Creative Corner wanted a card with purple. The One Stop Craft Challenge was looking for pearls and swirls. I found this sketch when I was surfing Design Team blogs at Bitten By the Bug. This sketch came from Shelly’s blog and it seemed made for all these challenges. Thank you, Shelly. The supplies I used for this card:

Purple cardstock
Double-sided pattern paper-Chatterbox
Green ribbon
Green pearls
Cricut-Stretch Your Imagination and Accent Essentials cartridges
Cuttlebug-Divine Swirl embossing folder

My base card is from purple cardstock and is 6” square. I used each side of my pattern paper putting it half and half on my card. My image background is cut from my Cricut Stretch Your Imagination cartridge at 3 ¾” and embossed with my Cuttlebug Divine Swirls folder. The flourish is from the same cartridge and is cut at 3 ½”. I put two small pearls on each end of the flourish. The three flowers are made from the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge. They are cut at 1 ¼” and 1” and I used pearls for the centers. My sentiment is computer generated.

3Clovers,CuteCardThurs,ABC,2Sketches4U

CuteCardThurs, 3Clovers, ABC, 2sketches4U challenges

I’ve been saving this pear paper for a fruit challenge and this week both Cute Card Thursday and Three Clovers had one. ABC’s challenge this week is Y for yellow and I used a 2 Sketches 4 U sketch. I only needed a few supplies for this card:

Turquoise cardstock
Patterned papers-DCWV Summer Stack
Fiskars edge punch
Cricut-Plantin Schoolbook and Joys of the Season cartridges
Yellow polka dot ribbon
Yellow button brads
Red rhinestones
Sentiment-The Cutting Café
Scallop circle punch

I was overjoyed after I cut my red patterned paper for my base card and found it had a pattern that helped me lay out the other papers on top of it. I used my Fiskars border punch on the outside edges of the pear paper. (Math and measuring not being my best asset). My oval was cut from the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge at 3 ½”. I found this cute pear on the Joys of the Season cartridge. It’s cut at 2 ¼” and shadowed with turquoise cardstock. I popped the pear off the oval with foam dots and added yellow button brads. I put a few red rhinestones on the pear for a little bling. My sentiment is from The Cutting Café. I love this polka dot ribbon that I found at my local craft store. I meant to go back and get some more but it’s probably too late now.
