The Cutting Cafe Shop Animal & Bug Love Clear Stamp Set

I've been so excited for this post day to get here. It is my Design Team day to post projects with the new Cutting Cafe Shop clear stamp set Animal & Bug Love. I've been using Regina's digital files and have been on her Design Team forever (well not forever, but a really long time). Let me say she is one fabulously talented lady and genuinely a good, good person. I was so excited for her when she decided to start a new venture into the clear stamp world. Once my stamp set arrived I just couldn't put it down so I have four cards to show you today. A funny story about my stamps, they are well traveled. They knew they were going to get a real work out at my house so they decided to take a little vacation before arriving, thanks to the USPS. For those of you who don't know, Regina lives in California and I live in Florida. Somehow, my stamps ended up in Honolulu, Hawaii. The post office said they were put on the wrong plane. You think!

My favorite stamp from this set, and I love them all, is the darling little elephant. I love, love, love him. I knew I wanted to do a little watercoloring with this stamp and give it a soft look, like an illustration from a book. I stamped him onto watercolor paper using Antique Linen Distress Ink then watercolored him using gray shades of Distress Inks-Pumice Stone and Frayed Burlap. I used Spun Sugar for the inside of his ear and Worn Lipstick for the hearts. When he was dry I added the grass using Mowed Lawn and the sky using Tumbled Glass. I love how he turned out. Sometimes a clean and simple card can make a big impact.

This next card was easy to put together. I started with black cardstock and a circle die which I decided to place off the paper to the bottom right. Next I added a piece of light aqua behind the circle. I paper pieced the mushroom and bees on this card by stamping and fussy cutting patterned papers. I curved the sentiment stamp on my stamp block so it would follow the curve of the mushroom.

Next up is my snail card. I used a couple fun techniques on this card. First I inked my background with Distress inks on Bristol paper. If you have trouble getting a nice smooth look when inking, I highly suggest you work on smooth Bristol paper. You can find it in the art section by the watercolor paper. It really makes inking a snap. Now when you look at the stamp set you will see that the large snail actually faces looking left. I wanted him to face right like he was crawling towards the mailbox. How did I accomplish this-by using a "mirror" stamping technique. You need a stamp that has a back surface area larger than the stamp you will be using. You mount it on your stamp block with the back side facing up. You may have to add a little adhesive runner to get it to stay in place on the block. Next you ink up your stamp and stamp it onto the flat back surface of the mounted stamp. Then you turn it over and stamp the image onto your paper. Voila, the stamp is now facing the other direction. I colored him with Copics, fussy cut him and added him to the left side of my inked background on foam tape. I stamped the mailbox, colored it in and fussy cut it, too. Before I placed it on the card I added the sentiment over the inked grass to be between the snail and the mailbox. I finished the card off by adding a couple die cut clouds.

Last, but certainly not least, is my super cute Valentine's card. I did a little background inking on this card then added a die cut tree with die cut hearts. For this card I stamped the bird images directly onto the inked cardstock and colored them with colored pencils. To finish it off I added the sentiment stamped in my favorite red ink-Archival Red Geranium.

I've showed you several different ways to use these stamps-watercoloring, paper-piecing, colored with Copics and colored with colored pencils. The stamps are very versatile and don't need to be used strictly for Valentine's day, as you can see. I'll also be using that sweet elephant for a new baby card soon. Thanks so much for coming by today and now head over to The Cutting Cafe Shop to see all the amazing products in the new store.

Cardz TV Stamps "Love Ya"

Hello, my crafty friends! So glad you stopped by today where I'm sharing a Valentine's card for my granddaughter using the new Cardz TV Stamps "Love Ya" stamp set. I was very excited when I looked at this set and saw the "I love you MORE" sentiment. This is a running comment I have with my granddaughter, Payton, so I knew I had to use it for her Valentine's card. I made a really simple card with an elephant image from the Hero Arts stamp set Lil Hoot. It's a great stamp set for making quick and easy cards for kids, as the images are so simple and don't require a lot of fancy coloring. For my card I just paper-pieced the elephants in two different shades of pink. I made a simple banner for my sentiment and stamped it in a bold Archival ink called Red Geranium. I have to say this is my very favorite red ink. I added a small twine bow and called it a day. If you would like to purchase your own set of these delightful sentiment stamps you will find them HERE. Thanks for stopping by.

Plan With Me Monday

Happy Monday, friends. This week in my planner I used a set of stamps I purchased from the Etsy shop The Poppy Print Shop. This is the first time I've ever purchased anything from an Etsy shop. I love the stickers in this Vintage Rose Planner Set from this shop, but it seems like they took a long time to arrive in the mail. I'm sure that has something to do with the USPS. I haven't had the best luck with my mail arriving in a timely manner, lately. I love the colors of this kit. They just make me happy. This week I added a couple extras. On Tuesday I will be doing some cookie baking for refreshments at our card gathering we're hosting on Friday night. To denote this in my planner I used a mixer die from the My Creative Time Mixed Just for You stamp and die set. I also printed some playing cards to place in Friday's square. This was just clip art that I found online.

Purchasing these stickers as a set gives you a better deal than purchasing them separately. The total cost for the five sheets of stamps was $17.75 and I had a 10% off coupon that I found on Jenna Rose's You Tube channel. You could definitely go broke purchasing stickers for every week of your planner. At the end of my first month of planning I, personally, feel that it is definitely more economical to use planner stamp sets that can be used over and over. This way you can pick your own color schemes and use papers that you already have in your stash. My second option would be using planner freebies you can find online (Pinterest) and print them onto sticker paper.

I look forward to seeing you next week where I'll have two different layouts to share-my February monthly layout and the layout for the first week. I found the cutest Valentine's washi tape at Michael's recently and I'm looking forward to using it.

Plan With Me Monday

Happy Monday, friends! Today I'm sharing my planner spread for the week and this week I've used no stickers, just paper and stamps. I've had this paper pad for years in my stash that a good friend gave me. Such a sweet gift for a non-crafter to give. That being said, it's not cardstock thickness and is very thin making it unsuitable for most cards. However, I've found that it is perfect for my calendar pages and doesn't add a lot of bulk or thickness. I looked through the stack for some coordinating prints and pulled these out. I wanted colors that would coordinate with my calendar pages since I was not going to use column headers, washi or stickers.

I started by cutting the pieces for each calendar section which measure 1.5" by 2.25". I cut the piece for the weekend days together because I like the look of having them both the same. Next I stamped the heart checklists on each top section for listing my daily activities. This is from the Pink & Main Planner Tabs stamp set. I also used the same set to cut the labels for planning my dinners for the week. My weekend banner is made with a EK Success flag punch. I love making these little weekend banners. I think I may add a few more elements as the week progresses. It seems as though I need to add extra activities every day as we do a little more socializing in the winter months at our RV resort. Just as I was sitting down to type up my blog post a friend came by to invite hubby and I to play cards this evening. That's the way it goes here, between cards, golfing and dining with friends our days our full of fun. I haven't said it lately, but RETIREMENT is truly fabulous.

Thanks for stopping by today. Make sure to come back for this week's Cutting Cafe assignment on Wednesday. The Design Team will be making Bendi Cards. They're so much fun!

The Cutting Cafe Bendi Card

I am so obsessed with these Bendi cards from The Cutting Cafe. They are so easy to put together and really make a statement. You can decorate them up for any occasion. Today I have a birthday card and I've also used the Elisha Jean and Friends Holding a Balloon Printable stamp set. After I cut and assembled my Bendi card using the SVG file and my Cricut Explore Air and went about adding my birthday elements. First I printed up Mikala Ann, paper pieced her outfit and the balloon then colored her in with Copics. The rest of the elements were simple cuts from a DCWV Celebration paper stack. The paper really did the work on this card. I simply cut out all the little presents and added them to the first panel of the card. Then I cut the cake for the middle panel and also attached the cute little sweetie Mikala there. For the back panel I added a little banner and a small sentiment, both cut from the same paper stack. That's it, the card was finished. Make sure to visit The Cutting Cafe Blog to see the rest of the Design Team's Bendi projects on January 21st. You're sure to get tons of inspiration.

I also want to mention, for all my Cutting Cafe fans, that Regina is now selling clear stamps of some of her best loved digital images. Fun, fun, fun!!! You can find them at The Cutting Cafe Shop. The Stamp Design Team (proud to say I'm part of) is getting ready to do their premier posts for the new release next week on the blog. You'll get a whole week of fabulous projects and inspiration beginning next Sunday, January 24th. Mark your calendars. I'd like to give you a sneak peek of my project, but it seems the USPS took my package of stamps to Hawaii instead of Florida. I guess they got mixed up because they are both kind of tropical locations. Hard to imagine how they could make a mistake like that, but they did admit that they put the package on the wrong plane. My stamps will be well-traveled by the time they finally get to my doorstep. If only it was me that got to detour to Hawaii. Big sigh!

Paper Sweeties January 2016 Release Rewind

Welcome back to a final day of inspiration for Paper Sweeties January 2016 release. All new release products are now available in the Sweet Shop here. Today's card features the With Love Sweet Cut on a clean and simple card. This is actually hubby's Valentine's card. I simply cut the heart from white cardstock and stamped the darling kissing birds from the Tree of Life Add-on. For just a tiny pop of color I used a Copic marker to color the heart above the birds red and then added some Glossy Accents to it. Make sure you visit the rest of the Design Team for more inspiration using January release products. You can use the list below.

Paper Sweeties January 2016 Release Party

Welcome, crafty friends, to the third day of Paper Sweeties January 2016 release. Today is the day the January 2016 release is available to purchase at the Paper Sweeties Shop. YAY! I feel I need to start off this post with an apology for my picture. I have never mastered taking photos of shiny images. My card is made from clear cardstock which I think is just really a FUN look. Today I used the Snow Time Add-on Sweet Treats stamp set and Sweet Cuts for a Valentine Card. I made my gumball machine paper piecing with a fun heart printed paper, filled it with some hearts and then placed it on a die cut circle of red gingham. On the inside of the card I added a 3.75" strip of aqua houndstooth paper topped with a heart paper cut at 3.25". I added a sentiment from the stamp set to a banner and placed it over the gumball machine.

Here is the line-up for the rest of the Design Team so you can get more release inspiration.
