BBTB2 Water theme

Happy Monday!  It's time for a new challenge at BBTB2.  This week's water theme challenge was chosen by our fabulous returning DT member Sandi.  She asked us to use a water theme.  I have to admit that I struggled with this one a little until I decided on a fish theme.  I really had something else in mind for the fish but ran short of time because we've been preparing for a big garage sale to empty out our storage unit.  It is crammed full after selling our house last July.  I've also been sick with a sinus infection and ear infection.  That's what happens when you return to a cold climate after spending the winter in warmth and sunshine in Florida.  Not only that, while visiting my children last week my dog and I were attacked by two boxer dogs while outside for a potty break.  My dog was on a leash the other two weren't.  It was a very traumatic experience, I must say.  We're both recovering from dog bites and that's as much as I want to say.  I wanted to make a card for my 5 year old granddaughter who will be performing in her first ballet program.  I was shocked to find I had to pay $16 each for tickets to go, however.  Does that seem like a lot to anyone besides me?  Anyway, I used one of my all time favorite cartridges for this card--Create A Critter.  I cut the fishbowl and it's layers at 3.25" and my fish and it's layers at 1".  I embossed the water layer with my Cuttlebug Divine Swirls folder and the sand with the Cuttlebug  Japanese Scales folder.  I thought it would be fun to put the fish on a Wobbler to give it a little movement and of course, I had to make the fish pink because that's one of Payton's favorite colors.  My sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe's Under the Sea set.

Cardz TV Stamps Color Me a Rainbow

It's time for a new challenge at Cardz TV Stamps.  For this weekend's challenge Mary asked the DT to use the theme "Color Me a Rainbow" using the colors pink, blue, green and yellow.  We were also allowed to use a little black or white.  This challenge will run April 20, 21 and 22 (Sunday at midnight).  Mary will be giving one set of Cardz TV Stamps to one lucky winner.  I used black cardstock for my base card and topped it with a mat of a blue swirl paper from My Mind's Eye Lime Twist 6x6 paper pad.  The frog and lilypad are cut from the Create A Critter cartridge.  I used Bazzill Dotted Paper for my frog which is cut at 4".  I used yellow for his belly and pink for his cheecks.  I couldn't resist using googly eyes because they were larger than the eyes the Cricut cut.  I also put the frog on a wobbler so it would jiggle around.  I'm sending this off to my granddaughter and knew she would love it.  My sentiment is from the perfect Cardz TV Stamps Set to go with the Create a Critter cartridge called Critter Captions.  I stamped directly on the lilypad with Momento Black Tuxedo Ink.

I hope you can play along with this weekend's colorful challenge for the chance to win two sets of Cardz TV Stamps.  If  you've never used any of Mary's Cardz TV Stamps I can tell you that they are very high quality polymer and stamp like a dream.  I'm so very lucky to be on the Design Team and get to create with these stamps.  I had the most exciting surprise a couple weeks ago when I got to meet Mary.  She made a trip to Florida to visit family traveling in her camper.  Of all the places her and her hubby could have stayed they just happened to pick the campground that my hubby and I have been living in since October.  We had the best time together, even though the visit was very brief.  I can't wait until she decides to make another trip down so we can have some more fun together and I hope the next trip will be longer.  (If she can just get that hubby of hers to retire.  Hint, hint Wayne!)  Love you guys!

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY TODAY!

Paper Cutz Challenge #78

It's another Friday challenge at Paper Cutz.  This week Mary asked the DT to make a project, card or layout using  ladybugs, bees, or butterflies.  I found the ladybug on the Cricut Create A Critter cartridge (Pg. 66) to be exactly what I needed to make a LO of my granddaughter with one of her favorite books called You're My Little Love Bug.  This is really a sweet book that I bought for Payton for Valentine's Day when she was two.  When you open it up it plays a catchy little tune.  Payton was addicted to the book for awhile and made me read it over and over.  I picked my colors for this LO right from the book and using Payton's two favorite colors pink and purple.  The background stripe came from a paper pack I bought years ago from Current before they had their scrapbooking division.  I also used a 12" decorative edge circle that I cut in half to use on each page and it's from Deja Views.  On the straight edge of the half circle I added some zigzag stitching with my sewing machine.  I cut the title using Cricut's Lyrical letters font which matched really well with the title font on the book.  The Love Bug part of the title is found on the same page of the manual as the ladybug.  Of course, I had to make my ladybugs with pink and purple.  I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder to emboss the ladybug's face and wings.

For the right hand page I printed out the words of the book into a strip for the right hand edge using my computer and printed it in purple ink to go with the layout.  I took a picture of the book to add to this page.  Then I cut a butterfly and the flowers from Create A Critter.  They're on page 69.  I cut the flowers at 4" and the butterfly at 2".  It wouldn't be a page for Payton if I didn't include some glitter, which she just loves.  I used pink and purple glitter on the wings of the butterfly and the tulips then used Stickles for the body of the butterfly and the stems of the flowers.
